Can 3D bioprinting be a solution for organ failure and lack of organ donors?
Project leaders: Dr. Caroline Cheng, Dr. Debby Gawlitta and Dr. Jos Malda
Everything in our body is subject to wear and tear, including our cells. Illness, injury and disease decreases the functionality of our tissues and organs. These conditions may deteriorate such that our entire body is affected and multiple organs can no longer work well. And organ failure can ultimately lead to death.
Organ transplantation is the only way of restoring proper function. However, there is a shortage of donor organs and therefore a need to investigate groundbreaking solutions to solve the problem of organ failure. Research that you can support.
