Internships for Master students
Cartilage regeneration – Vonk group
Contact: Dr. Lucienne Vonk (email@example.com), Orthopaedics, UMC Utrecht
Our research focuses on biological joint reconstruction. We have ample experience with cell therapy and translation of preclinical research into clinical trials. After multiple ATMP studies in joint repair, we recently developed and initiated an investigator-driven first in man study for the treatment of focal cartilage defects with a combination of autologous chondrons and allogeneic MSCs (IMPACT trial). Currently we are investigating the possibilities of cell-induced meniscus repair and arthroscopic delivery of cell-therapy products by BioAirbrush technology.
We also offer more fundamental/ molecular biology oriented internships on cartilage formation and chondrogenic differentiation of human multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) by microRNA modulation.
We are looking for highly motivated students with a strong interest in translational research or molecular biology in the field of cartilage biology. Previous experience in cell culture is favored. This internship is for 6-12 months.
