Melt electrospinning writing for cardiac tissueengineering
Collaborative work of research groups in the Regenerative Medicine Center Utrecht with the Technical University of Eindhoven and international partners has led to a recently accepted manuscript in the journal of advanced healthcare materials. In this manuscript results are presented of a multidisciplinary research project lead by the orthopaedics and cardiovascular departments of UMC Utrecht.
The article describes the development of organized ultrafine fiber scaffolds that can guide the growth of cardiac cells and improve their mechanical anisotropy. This research brings us one step closer towards repair after cardiac failure and opens new opportunities for future research.
